Poland in media

Lately there was quite a lot about Poland in international media!

I.

This a Swedish social experiment. Just watch the video. The Pole seems to be simple but honest guy. He saw assaulted woman, he reacted immediately. It seems he doesn't speak Swedish, some people bash him for it. How many foreigners visiting Poland actually speak Polish? Most of them settle for English. So our Pole did. After he was explained in English that it was just a prank, he calmed down. It's natural that in strong emotion he switched to his mother language.

II.

Last year the official valentine's day movie was, well, "Fifty Shades of Grey". This year it was supposed to be "Deadpool". And it was, in every country except Poland. The biggest box office record was established by Polish romantic comedy "Single Planet". Some Poles seems to feel embarassed for their fellow countrymen and feel the need to apologise. I wonder why. I haven't seen aby of those movies, but I know my tastes. "Single Planet" would bore me to death, "Deadpool" would entertain me well. I will see it someday, I didn't go to the cinema on Valentine's Day, it's way too crowded fot me. Still, why shoul I feel embarrased for someone? Nobody killed, raped or robbed anyone. They just have chosen to see another movie than majority of people, it's a low-quality movie but it's no harm to anyone.

So, foreign filmakers earned less money in Poland. What a tragedy. Shouldn't they be grateful that we are showing their film on the screen? They will get some money out of there. Just look at China: China denied the release of Deadpool due to censorship (violence). Chinene people who will want to watch this movie will have to deal with pirated copies. No money for them, and China a such a large market.
